How Dose Pneumatic Actuator Open A Ball Valve?

Aug 03, 2023

  • 1. The pneumatic actuator receives a signal from a control system to open the valve.

    2. The actuator's piston moves forward, which in turn compresses the air in the cylinder.

    3. This compression of air creates kinetic energy which is transferred to the valve stem via a linkage or coupling.

    4. The valve stem moves upwards, rotating the ball in the center of the valve body.

    5. As the ball rotates, the flow path through the valve opens up, allowing the fluid or gas to flow through the now-open valve.

    6. The valve can be stopped at any position using a variety of control devices such as limit switches, positioners or solenoid valves.
